About

At my table, I meet with people, eat with people, and spend time thinking, talking and writing about the patterns and connections I see in this life – life with God at the centre.

At present, my cooking endeavours have Marcella Hazan at their centre. I shall attempt to cook all 446 recipes in ‘The Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking.’ Please read ‘attempt’ in italics. If you’d like to see where it all started, take a look at the post about recipe #1. You can continue counting from there – should you so desire.

  1. Your site is just lovely and you have gained a new follower. Just read all your (101) posts and am ensnared in your life–painting, cooking eating. and the songs you sing, I also remember…and I sang them to my children too.

  2. Hi Shazzameena, I’ve nominated you for a very inspiring blogger award – I love your writing; you are very true to yourself, and your posts are always so thoughtful.
If you will accept it, these are the rules…
    1) The nominee shall display the Very Inspiring Blogger Award logo on her/his blog, and link to the blog they got nominated from.
    2) The nominee shall nominate fifteen (15) bloggers she/he admires, by linking to their blogs and informing them about it.
If you’re too busy to do all that I hope you will just take it as a compliment to your blogging 🙂

    • Thank you! A great compliment coming from an inspiring writer such as yourself. I’m still thinking about your post yesterday. It spoke into my situation. I’m away a present with only a phone to type on. So shall respond to nomination when I’m back home.

      • Aw thank you. And if you are having experiences like mine, I wish you all the best dear lady. You have written about your relationship with God, and I have to say, this latest experience has really renewed my faith.

  3. Hi! I dropped in to peruse your blog (to force myself to act more outgoing and upbeat… Lol) and am delighted by what I see. I loved the airplane one and the encountering the unknown! It’s really wonderful here! But I am a little confused reading the comments section? Are there multiple owners of this blog?
Nice crossing paths with you on the Daily post,
    Stephanie

      • I just checked it myself – and it is confusing! It’s just me here – no other users. I’m delighted you’ve dropped by to have a read. You are very welcome. I have also been trying to read more blogs and comment – walking right up to people and saying ‘Hi there! Pleased to meet you!’ (SO not me)

    • That’s lovely, thank you! It means a lot. I will try and work on it this week. I won’t be able to come up with fifteen nominations as I’m still new to the whole thing, but I’ll see what I can do 🙂

    • I am certainly learning a lot about Italian cooking. It’s so much more than pasta and pizza. I was thinking that some a lot of her simple pot-roast meals are great ‘meat for men’ meals – but they may not work so well when multiplied to feed 30!?

    • Thanks for visiting! I had a much more productive year, last year, with cooking. This past year has been a bit more challenging, but I have been making frequent use of Marcella’s very simple roast chicken with lemon. Very easy to feed visitors with, and leftovers for myself.
